After the sensational World Cup title, there is great euphoria in German basketball. Demand has increased again, especially among young people.
Association President Ingo Weiss sees a further boom among boys and girls in German basketball after the men’s World Cup title.
“The demand is unbroken. That’s what continues to please me. We’ve shown with the success among men that it wasn’t a flash in the pan,” said the 60-year-old President of the German Basketball Federation (DBB) to the German Press Agency . “The demand from boys and girls is incredibly high at the moment. Our limits are only where we need hall capacities, because unfortunately they are finite in the Federal Republic.”
The German men won their first world championship title a few weeks ago after third place at the home European Championships last year. The women took a surprising sixth place at the last European Championships. Weiss still sees great potential in women’s basketball. “We have made it our mission to promote and further develop women’s basketball in the Federal Republic.”
