Coach Xabi Alonso’s team won 2-1 at VfL Wolfsburg and ousted Borussia Dortmund again; BVB temporarily overtook Werder Bremen with a 1-0 win on Friday. Second behind Bayer is VfB Stuttgart, who won 3-0 at 1. FC Union Berlin.
RB Leipzig achieved their first success since the end of September with a 3-1 win over newly promoted SV Darmstadt 98 on the eighth matchday. Eintracht Frankfurt moved within two points of Kraichgauer with a 3-1 win at TSG Hoffenheim. SC Freiburg, who beat VfL Bochum 2-1, is level on points with Eintracht.
