As is well known, Felix Neureuther is not a fan of the early start of the Ski World Cup in Sölden.
Since the former ski star has never made a secret of it, he also faces headwinds. Among others, from Oliver Schwarz, managing director of Ötztal Tourismus.
- Felix Neureuther: “The ÖSV problems began with Marcel Hirscher”
On social media, Schwarz published photos of young skiers in Sölden, several of whom have “Ski-Club Partenkirchen” (Neureuther’s hometown) written on their anoraks and another is wearing a sweater with the inscription “Felix Neureuther Racecamp”.
“While Mr. Besserwisser from Garmisch tells the media what needs to be done, we make sure that the young skiers from his region have optimal training conditions,” writes Schwarz in his following posting on social media:
Neureuther doesn’t let it go, countering the Swiss newspaper “Blick”: “Making such an unqualified post about children is absolutely ridiculous.”
- “I shouldn’t say anything more”: ORF defends itself against having censored Benjamin Raich on the topic of climate protests
The German also says: “If people like that didn’t just read the headlines but read the entire articles, then they would know what I’m talking about. I never criticized Sölden as a venue, but only the timing of the start of the World Cup. In a country like Germany, hardly anyone wants to watch a ski race on TV at the end of October. In addition, the declining numbers in the junior sections of the ski clubs show that there is a lot going wrong in skiing.”
Neureuther then addressed Schwarz directly on social media: “If you weren’t a know-it-all, but a qualified man for this job, then you would contact me directly and we could talk about solutions.”
