DFB Cup: You can watch these games live on free TV

The second round of the DFB Cup takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition to the pay channel Sky, both ARD and ZDF will each broadcast a duel live and in full length.

The DFB Cup starts its second round on Tuesday (October 31) and Wednesday (November 1). A total of 16 games are on the schedule. Because relatively few lower-class teams were able to qualify for this round this year, fans are already expecting top-class games.

Eight games will be played on both match days – four each at 6 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. As in previous years, the pay TV channel “Sky” will broadcast all games live. In addition, there will be a game on free TV on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

ZDF will show the game between 1. FC Kaiserslautern and 1. FC Köln on Tuesday. Kick-off takes place at 8:45 p.m. in the Fritz Walter Stadium. The broadcast begins at 8:15 p.m. Moderator Katrin Müller-Hohenstein leads the show together with expert Per Mertesacker.

A day later, ARD will broadcast when 1. FC Saarbrücken hosts record cup winners Bayern Munich. The whistle also kicks off at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The broadcast also starts at 8:15 p.m. and is moderated by Esther Sedlaczek.

Wednesday, kick-off 8.45 p.m.:

  • Hertha BSC vs. Mainz 05

  • Viktoria Cologne vs. Eintracht Frankfurt
  • 1. FC Saarbrücken vs. Bayern Munich

The DFB Cup round of 16 will take place later this year

If you can’t or don’t want to follow the games live, you can access detailed summaries of the games. ARD and ZDF will show the highlights of the other games after their respective live broadcast on TV and then on all known online platforms.

The 16 teams that make it through to the second round practically don’t even need to take off their football boots. Because the round of 16 of the DFB Cup is still coming up this year. The previously drawn games will take place on December 5th and 6th.
