The Argentine ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Scioli, denounced the “unjustified brutality” of the Rio de Janeiro Police in the repression against Boca Juniors fans who received tear gas when they were on the sand of Copacabana beach tonight, as part of the vigil for the final of the Libertadores Cup of America against Fluminense.

“The actions of the police are brutally repressive, because they are soccer fans who did not steal anything, they did not attack anyone, they were on the beach with the pride of their shirt and the Fluminense team came to attack them first”Scioli told Télam in Rio de Janeiro.

The ambassador maintained that the actions of the Rio de Janeiro police on Thursday night are “unjustified brutality and irrationality.”

Scioli claimed to the South American Football Confederationorganizer of the event, to intervene to stop the wave of police repression against Boca fans arriving in Brazil.

“Conmebol should act and influence so that all this happens reasonably. Because if we are like this today, Thursday, what is going to happen on Saturday?”Scioli wondered and asked.
