Independiente wants to take a step towards qualification in Tucumán for the League Cup

Independiente, which moved quite far from the relegation zone, will visit Atlético Tucumán today with the aim of adding a victory that will allow it to be close to qualifying for the quarterfinals, in a match valid for Zone A of the Copa de the Professional Football League (LPF).

The match will be played from 9 p.m. at the Estadio Monumental José Fierro, in the capital of Tucumán, with the arbitration of Andrés Merlos, the VAR in charge of Silvio Trucco and televised by ESPN.

Independiente has 19 points, is behind River (23), which lost at home last night with Huracán (2-1) and has expectations of advancing to the quarterfinals in the domestic tournament, after moving away from the relegation zone thanks to the good campaign carried out with Carlos Tévez as coach.

The former Boca forward arrived at “Rojo” when the team was suffering from relegation in the annual table on the second date and only lost the undefeated 10 days ago when they fell to River (3-0) in Núñez.

Independiente under the leadership of Tévez has five wins, four draws and one setback, moving away from the relegation spots as it has 47 units, five of the teams that should break the tie today to find out which loses the category.

Atlético Tucumán, led by the duo Fabio Orsi and Sergio Gómez, is strong at home with 10 dates without defeats at the José Fierro with eight wins and two draws and with 14 points they must win against Independiente to maintain their chances of qualifying.

In history, the Tucumán team leads Independiente by one victory, seven against six, and they tied three times in a total of 16 games.
