The first half of the Regionalliga Middle season was concluded last weekend with the 15th round – now the Upper Austria third division teams are heading into the winter break. The OÖN draws an initial conclusion:
SPG catfish, “Good”: After the 2:3 against promotion rivals Voitsberg, coach Emin Sulimani’s team wintered six points behind the top. The Welsers can still be satisfied, they have now been unbeaten for 26 games across the seasons and have broadened their position: With the merger, their strengths will finally be pooled from the coming season, and ex-SV Ried coach Christian Heinle (for the academy) and Andreas Hofmann (Marketing) gained experts.
SPG Wallern/St. Marienkirchen, “Very good”: As a newly promoted team, they are right back at the top – the Trattnachtalers probably wouldn’t have even dreamed of that at the start of the season. Especially since the team was only strengthened with promising players in the summer, mainly those kickers who were already on the ball in the Upper Austrian league.
SK Vorwärts Steyr, “Very good”: After relegation from the second division, the club heralded a mega upheaval (26 departures, 19 additions) and also had to make massive savings. Neo-coach Markus Eitl quickly managed to form a team that only suffered four defeats – only one of which was by more than one goal difference.
Union Gurten, “Good”: The people of Innviertel traditionally play in the middle of the table. The tenth season in the third highest division also had a special highlight to offer: Not only are you a tough nut to crack for your league opponents, coach Peter Madritsch’s team also held up really well in the cup hit against Rapid and even forced the favorites into extension.
UVB Vöcklamarkt, “Good”: In the previous season, the Hausruckviertel team fought against relegation for a long time – worries that they probably won’t have this year. The foundation for this was laid primarily at home: 17 of the 20 points were earned on our own artificial turf. A good starting point for spring.
LASK amateurs, “Enough”: The reigning runner-up was unable to match the performance of the previous season at all. If you want to see something positive: eight players from the black and white talents made the jump to a higher league in the summer, and coach Patrick Enengl also docked in the 2nd league with Amstetten. Now the next generation – around the 18-year-olds Philipp Haberl, Armin Haider and Marco Schabauer – has to be introduced. That takes time.
Young Vikings, “Not Enough”: The Innviertel team has been without a win for five games – results really went downhill after the resignation of coach Hubert Zauner. Differences with people involved are said to have been one reason. A new amateur coach is to be found during the winter break – this topic will be discussed at a board meeting today.
