At the European Championships in Pontchateau, France, Valentin Hofer finished 22nd in the junior race last weekend. Next Sunday, the man from Innviertel, who is surrounded by many teams, could prove himself at home. The Ovilava cycling club is organizing the “Steiner Cross” at the Wels-Wimpassing leisure facility – where the favorite has a score to settle with state champion Daniel Federspiel. Last year he was stopped halfway through the race by a defect. Daniela Schmidsberger from Vöcklabruck, who now competes internationally, also uses the cross competitions for training purposes. “Since the gravel bike is becoming more and more popular, there is also an everyone’s competition for hobby riders,” says co-organizer Mario Rossmann.
The cross-country race will follow in Bad Ischl on November 28th, and the next day there will be an international race in Gunskirchen.
