Gianluigi Donnarumma inherits Manuel Neuer!  IFFHS names PSG goalkeeper world goalkeeper of the year


Manuel Neuer has to leave the title of world goalkeeper to another goalkeeper this year. The IFFHS announced the decision.

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been voted IFFHS World Goalkeeper of the Year 2021 by the International Federation of Football History & Statistic. The 22-year-old landed in the poll, which has been awarded since 1987 and is carried out by selected international specialist editors and experts, with 170 points (75 points) well ahead of FC Bayern Munich.

World goalkeeper of the year: Neuer has to give way to Donnarumma

Edouard Mendy (Chelsea / 40), Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa / 25) and Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid / 20) followed on the other places. The record holders of the award are Neuer Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon, each with five titles. It was Donnarumma’s first award.

In the women’s category, Christiane Endler from Olympique Lyon landed with 110 points, just ahead of Sandra Panos from FC Barcelona (100 points). Stephanie Labbe from Paris Saint-Germain (45) took third place.
