The legend of English football and current coach, Wayne Rooneyrevealed that at the beginning of his career he suffered from alcoholism.
“When I was in my early 20s, I spent a couple of days at home and didn’t go out. “I drank almost until I fainted.”said Rooney, the current technical director of the Birmingham City, from the second division of England.
Rooney revealed his addiction to alcohol in a podcast conducted by Rob Burrowa renowned former rugby player who was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease in 2019.

At 20 years old, Rooney was already part of the Manchester United and the English team and the alcoholhe was a “release” to deal with the high profile.
“I didn’t want to be around anyone, because sometimes you feel embarrassed and like you let people down, and in the end, I didn’t know how else to deal with that,” he said. Rooney.
The scorer said that he suffered from this illness “for some years”but he managed to overcome it with the “help and guidance” of trained people.
“When you don’t receive help and guidance from others, You can really fall into a low place, and I was like that for a few years.. Fortunately, now I’m not afraid to go and talk to people about these problems,” she concluded.
