At the AFA headquarters, the creation of a new category for Argentine football is being seriously evaluated. Know what your objectives are and the details.
The AFA Weeks ago, it was evaluating the possibility of removing relegations in the top category to form a Professional League of 30 teamsas happened in 2015. To do this, at the headquarters on Viamonte Street they are studying to generate a new amateur court divisionalcall “Amateur Promotional Tournament”.

The objective of it would be to include the clubs of the First D who cannot adapt to the professional regime and in order not to remain “hanging” with an annual disaffiliation (which has existed for decades).

This new division, in turn, will include the union of the last two categories of the argentine soccer in 2024.
Although no further details are known, the “Amateur Promotional Tournament” would be composed between 15 and 20 clubs. Priority will be given to those who are directly affiliated with AFA. Will a new membership quota be opened? If necessary, it will be evaluated.
The other objective that the tournament would have (as its name suggests) would be to promote young footballers: The maximum limit will be 25-year-old players.
With this idea, the ranks would be “matched” within the structure that includes both metropolitan and inland teams: a large national category (First National), a second professional (Federal A – Fusion c and d) and an amateur (Regional Tournament – Promotional Tournament).
