A football game between two Ukrainian teams lasted almost five hours in what meant a national record caused by multiple interruptions due to alerts by air strikes in this country that fights against the Russian nation.
The match began at 5:00 p.m., but the Dnipro-1 and Oleksandria players did not finish until shortly before 10:00 p.m., “almost 280 minutes”pointed out the first of these clubs in X (old Twitter).
“It is the longest match in the history of the Ukrainian championship”noted the specialized site sport.ua.
The duel took place in Dnipro, large city in the central-eastern part of the country, hit by Russian attacks since the beginning of the war, in February 2022.
The first division was suspended at the beginning of the war, but was later resumed. The matches are played without spectators and are stopped in case of an aerial alert.
On Monday, during the duel, some alerts remained in effect for more than an hour, according to sport.ua. Finally the Dnipro club won 1-0. Many Ukrainian clubs cannot play in their hometowns as it is too dangerous.
