Champions League: Tuchel on Kane: Scores “anywhere in the world”

The impressive start of striker Harry Kane at FC Bayern Munich only partially astonishes coach Thomas Tuchel.

“It was always clear to me what he could do. There was no doubt in my mind that he could do what he did, score goals and prepare goals, on any pitch in the world,” said Tuchel before the Champions League game of the German soccer champions against Galatasaray Istanbul.

15 goals after ten league games

Kane, who was signed from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer for over 100 million euros, has scored three times in the last two Bundesliga games against Darmstadt 98 and Borussia Dortmund. Tuchel spared the 30-year-old when the cup was eliminated in Saarbrücken.

The captain of the English national team has 15 goals after ten league games. In the premier class, Kane has two goals to his name after three appearances. “He does it as a matter of course, he did it for over ten years in the most difficult league,” said Tuchel about the striker’s calmness in front of the goal.

Tuchel: “Exactly in the right place”

Still, Kane’s top start in Munich “cannot be rated highly enough,” said Tuchel: “It’s Harry’s first club change. He’s leaving the island, going to a new league, to a new city. That’s a huge step, too for his environment.”

There are always uncertainties, especially when changing clubs, especially abroad, said Tuchel: “You can’t assume that it will work out so quickly and so well.” Kane is “in exactly the right place” at FC Bayern. And Tuchel predicted with regard to Kane’s performance and goal rate: “And that’s not the end – for sure.”
