Both FC Andorf (0:4 at autumn champions Gmunden) and Union Esternberg (0:3 against SPG Schärding) suffered heavy defeats on the last matchday. For Esternberger in particular, the match against their local rivals was a missed opportunity to regain contact with the lower midfield. For interim coach Christian Hartinger’s team, the second district derby in a row is on the agenda at the end of the autumn season against Andorf on Saturday (2 p.m.). With only eight points and 13th place, the Sauwaldveilchen currently find themselves in the middle of a relegation battle.
In Andorf, the Esternbergers not only want to end the messed up first half of the season on a positive note, but also want to polish up their derby balance. The last win against the red and whites was more than eight years ago. The first half of the season for the Andorfers has so far been like a rollercoaster ride. Strong performances were often followed by bitter defeats. Like last time when we traveled to the Salzkammergut with a lot of self-confidence after the deserved 1-0 derby win against Schärding. However, in Gmunden they missed too many chances and ultimately left the pitch – at least according to the result – as a clear loser. With a win in the derby, the top field would at least remain within reach for the seventh-placed team.
