The draw of the America Cup 2024 which will be developed in USA between June 20 and July 14 will be drawn next Thursday, December 7 in Miamias announced jointly today by the two organizing associations: Conmebol and Concacaf.
The contest will feature the participation of 16 teams, which will be the 10 from Conmebol and the top six from the 2023/24 Nations League organized by Concacaf, with the United States already classified due to its status as host of the contest.
This will be the 48th. edition of the Copa América that has 30 titles divided equally between Uruguay and Argentina, which will precisely go to the United States to defend the achievement achieved in 2021 at the Maracaná stadium in Rio de Janeiro, against the local Brazil.
“We are determined to renew and expand our joint initiatives and projects. We want this passion to translate into more and better competitions and for football and its values to grow and strengthen throughout the hemisphere. Without a doubt, both confederations believe big and we will work with this orientation,” said Paraguayan Alejandro Domínguez, president of Conmebol.
“This will be mutually beneficial for both Confederations. We will offer elite competitions that will provide more opportunities for our federations and that we know fans want to see. We will work together to ensure that football in both regions continues to thrive,” said Canadian Victor Montagliani. head of Concacaf, during an agreement between both organizations towards the 2026 World Cup.
Next year’s Copa América draw will distribute the 16 participants into four groups of the same number of members.
