The autumn season in the regional football league is over, the seven Upper Austria third division teams have said goodbye to the winter break. Although actually not quite: the majority ask their kickers to train for at least a few weeks. This is the winter schedule for the Upper Austrian clubs:
SPG Wallern/St. St. Mary’s Churches: The biggest surprise from an Upper Austrian perspective is currently a two-week break before the Trattnachtal team starts again with a six-week program created by a sports doctor. The real start of preparation is January 4th – there are, among other things, test games against Blau-Weiß Linz and Ried. A training camp in Side, Turkey, is also planned. While no new additions are expected, there could be new cooperation players from Blau-Weiß Linz: Alexander Briedl recently came back into the sights of BW coach Gerald Scheiblehner via the third division team. Further cooperation between the clubs will be discussed at a meeting next week.
SPG catfish: The candidate for promotion from the trade fair city will start training again next week and the sweat will continue until mid-December. The new year starts again on January 3rd – with new faces? “I’m currently in the process of doing an autumn analysis. After that we’ll decide whether we want to make any changes to the squad,” says sports director Harun Sulimani.
SK Vorwärts Steyr: After a two-week break, training continues for another four weeks. On January 8th, coach Markus Eitl’s team will meet again and start preparing for the spring season. At a board meeting at the end of November it will be discussed whether transfer arrangements may already be made for the coming season. The future of Oliver Filip, whose agreement was only valid until winter, is unclear, as is that of Michael Lageder: it is still unclear whether the veteran will be able to return to the pitch again. “We will sit down together,” says sports director Gerald Perzy.
Union Gurten: The Innviertel team will return to the training ground on January 8th and will take on higher-class teams such as Blau-Weiß Linz and Amstetten in preparation. In February the team travels to Slovenia for a four-day training camp.
UVB Vöcklamarkt: Why wander into the distance when the good is so close? The Hausruckviertlers can use their artificial turf in winter and hold a training camp in Vöcklamarkt and Ampflwang. The winter preparations kicked off on January 15th, and after a short break work will continue until December 8th.
LASK amateurs: During the winter break, the black and whites will take on, among others, the second representative of Rapid and the Czech first division team Dynamo Budweis.
Young Viking Ried: It starts again for the Innviertel team on January 8th, and a new coach must have been found by then. The test match program offers a mix of Upper Austrian league teams such as St. Martin/M. or Pregarten, Lower Austrian clubs (Ardagger, St. Peter) and Salzburg teams (Austria Salzburg, Bischofshofen, Seekirchen).
