You should celebrate the festivals as they come – FC Blau-Weiß Linz also stuck to this after the derby win against LASK. While coach Gerald Scheiblehner and his support team reviewed the heroic success in the “Tante Kaethe” stadium bar, the players were out and about in the city center. But it was over at midnight: “Because Linz is a big city where there’s obviously not much going on on a Sunday,” says Scheiblehner with a smile.
The winning coach also kept his promise: there was no training yesterday, training will continue from today until Thursday. After the morning training, the derby champions get five days off – one more day than planned. In addition, his kickers will be able to choose the training content themselves in the coming days, and Scheiblehner will treat his protégés to meat loaf as announced.
During the derby, however, the 46-year-old showed no mercy, as he himself revealed: “A player wanted to come out at half-time because he was in pain. I said that I wasn’t interested. I need winners and warriors. Luckily he did he still held out.”
