Matteo Luisetti opened the game to the taste of the home fans: in the 5th minute, the South Tyrolean scored 1-0 for HC Gherdeina. Just four minutes later, the guests, who were by no means hiding, managed to equalize: Benjamin Mosaad scored to make it 1-1 (9th). Linz even had a slight preponderance of shots after the first third (13:16).
It took seven minutes in the second third before Gherdeina scored a double strike: Kevin Schulze gave the home team a 2-1 lead (28th minute), and ex-Bolzano player Diego Glück increased the lead to 3-1 for the hosts just 13 seconds later. Exactly 30 seconds later, Alexander Vigl was sent to the penalty box by the hosts and another 19 seconds later it was suddenly 3-2. Mikael Saha scored to make it 2:3 from Linz’s perspective. Three hits within 62 seconds.
It then took until the 50th minute for the scorekeepers to get something on the scoreboard again: After Linz failed to take advantage of a double majority in the previous minutes, Mikael Saha scored to equalize 3-3. It stayed that way in regular playing time. It took 65 seconds in overtime for a decision to be made: defender Patrick Söllinger captured the goal and scored to give Linz a 4-3 win.
The revenge for the bitter 0:3 on Thursday evening at home against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors is forgotten; after this week they slipped one place in the table to eleventh place. The gap to the fixed playoff participation (sixth place) is seven points.
