Gimnasia y Tiro de Salta and Douglas Haig from Pergamino will play tomorrow in the final of the Federal A tournament that will reward the champion with promotion to the Primera Nacional in 2024.

The match will be played this Sunday from 8 p.m. and will take place at the Carlos Mercado Luna stadium, in La Rioja, with the refereeing of Bruno Amiconi, who will be assisted by Guillermo Yacante and Marcos Ignacio Liuzzi, televised by Public TV.

The loser of the final will have one more chance to advance in a match against San Miguel, winner of the reduced Primera B tournament.

Gimnasia y Tiro, directed by Rubén “Yagui” Forestello, won Zone D with 59 units, then in the round of 16 they beat Sportivo Belgrano (Córdoba) by 2-0, in the quarterfinals they beat Villa Mire (Bahía Blanca) by 1 -0, both at home, and in the semifinals against Olimpo (Bahía Blanca), the best team in the first phase with 70 units, 1-0 away.

Douglas Haig, for his part, was first in Zone C with 67 points, in the round of 16 he beat Santamarina (Tandil) 0-0 and passed by sporting advantage), in the quarterfinals he beat Central Norte (Salta) by 5- 0 and in the semifinals against Ciudad Bolivar (Bolivar) 2-1, all at home.

Pergamino’s Buenos Aires team has the record of having played 13 consecutive seasons in the Primera Nacional, until it was relegated in 1999.

In the 2011/2012 season he managed to return to the First National after 13 years of absence and remained until 2017.

Gimnasia y Tiro, for its part, played two national tournaments (1979 and 1981) and was in the Primera Nacional during the 1992-93, 1994-95, 1995-1996, 1996-97, 1998-1999 and 1999-00 seasons, while who played in the First Division twice: 1993-94 and 1997-98.
