A severe onset of winter has paralyzed large parts of Bavaria. FC Bayern’s home game on Saturday was canceled. The FC Augsburg game on Sunday, however, should take place.
Despite the chaos in the weather in Bavaria, FC Augsburg is still planning to play its Bundesliga home game against Eintracht Frankfurt this Sunday (7:30 p.m./DAZN).
In a statement, the Augsburgers referred to the tireless efforts “over the last 24 hours by fans, employees and service providers.” The club also issued information to stadium visitors.
They are therefore asked to “arrive to the WWK ARENA early. It is strongly recommended – if possible – to arrive by tram, as parking capacity at the WWK ARENA is only limited due to the masses of snow over the past few days.” Fans are also asked to “move with care and caution throughout the entire WWK ARENA area, as snow and slippery conditions can occasionally lead to the risk of slipping.”
The day before, the heavy snowfall had caused the cancellation of the Bundesliga home game between German soccer champions FC Bayern Munich and 1. FC Union Berlin. The reason was the associated security risks.
