Kirienko and Matytsin presented awards at the Aikido festival in Moscow

In Moscow on Friday, December 3, the Open All-Russian Aikido Festival “Tornado” ended, which has become the largest event in the category of martial arts in Europe this year.

The organizer of the “Tornado” was the National Aikido Council of Russia, in total more than 600 athletes from 36 Russian regions took part in the event.

As a result, the winners were announced in six nominations. The ceremony was attended by the first deputy head of the presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, who presented the winners with the awards, as well as the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin.

Addressing the athletes, Kiriyenko noted the special role of coaches. According to him, in the martial arts, the coach is more of a mentor.

“The guys take an example from him. This is the person who gives him life lessons, who gives him lessons in overcoming his own weaknesses. Those who performed today, who were awarded, said today that in martial arts, without exception, the most difficult opponent is their own weaknesses, and the most worthy and difficult victory is the victory over their fears. And this example is given by mentors. The most important thing in the Tornado festival and in this award is the words of gratitude and respect from the professional community to those people who pass on the wonderful martial art of aikido to new generations, ”he said.

In turn, Matytsin expressed gratitude to everyone who supports aikido in Russia, since this martial art helps in raising children, popularizing the most important values.

“First of all, I want to express my gratitude to the National Council and the entire Aikido community for raising children, for popularizing vital values, which, especially now, have become even more in demand and understandable to everyone, – this is the value of being together, supporting each other,” the Minister of Sports emphasized …

In July, Kiriyenko, speaking to young people within the Tavrida art cluster, demonstrated aikido technique using enemy forces to defend against attack. He emphasized that aikido teaches you to use not your own strength, but the energy of the enemy.
