River’s most important milestones in the last decade

Stefano Di Carlothe Secretary General of River Plate listed a list of achievements that, together with Rodolfo D’Onofrio and Jorge Brito was achieved in the last 10 years. She did it through her Twitter account.

“Our institution was going through a critical economic situation, the largest sports crisis in its history and a progressive and general deterioration in each of its areas. To first straighten the course and then begin this path of unstoppable growth and full of successes that we all enjoy members and fans, it was essential to design a project and convene a team at the level of the largest Club on the continent to be able to meet the objectives. Below are some of the most important milestones achieved during these 10 years of management,” explained Di Carlo .

In professional football, as a first measure we call on the Club’s glories to occupy spaces and once again be part of the institutional day-to-day life. It was the initial step to recover identity and the sense of belonging, eroded by previous efforts.

2. ELECTION AND RECORD PERMANENCE OF THE DT

The decision to hire Marcelo Gallardo, the best coach in the Club’s history, meant an enormous success. Agreeing on the Club’s project and accompanying each of its decisions were the pillars to achieve 8 uninterrupted years of permanence in the position, a unique record in the region and comparable with few sporting projects in the world, which resulted in countless triumphs and joys

3. 17 TITLES

We recover the tradition of doing Olympic laps. We won 10 national and 7 international titles, going from 5 cups to 12.

4. ELIMINATIONS AND OLYMPIC RETURNS AGAINST THE CLASSIC RIVAL

Four of the 17 titles have a distinction: a direct elimination match against our classic rival. They also have two denominators in common: we were owners of the superclásico and champions. Two of the four matches occurred in the final of the contest and we raised the cup at the end of the duel. One of them resonated throughout the planet and will remain marked for all of history. Additionally, months after what was narrated, a fifth consecutive confrontation occurred in the Libertadores semifinals. The team that wore the champion badge from the previous edition on its shirt triumphed.

5. MOST EXPORTING CLUB OF THE DECADE

We revalued our seedbed and positioned ourselves as the best club selling soccer players on the continent and 8th in the world in this century. The strategy of conserving 25% of Enzo Fernández’s transfer caused the largest transfer income in the history of Argentine football.

6. WORLD CHAMPIONS WITH THE RIVER SEAL

We recovered the historic custom of supplying the national team: six of the 26 players who won the World Cup in Qatar came from our training divisions. In addition, our seedbed led the list of 52 players registered for the World Cup final and provided Argentina with the only local soccer player.

7. PROFESSIONALIZATION OF WOMEN’S FOOTBALL

In July 2019, 18 footballers signed their first professional contracts with the Institution, which meant a fundamental step towards equality in sport. Currently the Club has a roster of 24 players in the first team and 100 between Reserve and Training. In addition, 5 of the 23 called up for the 2023 FIFA World Cup have passed through the Institution.

8. RECORD OF MEMBERS IN THE CONTINENT AND 2nd IN THE WORLD

In November we exceeded 350,000 active members per day, a figure that represents a growth of +514%! compared to the record of December 2013 (68,000 members) and places us in first place on the continent and second in the world, only behind Bayern Munich (366,000). This unique evolution worldwide is not a product of chance. In the first months of management, back in 2014, a plan was drawn up that began with the creation of the Somos River category and its implementation starting in August of that year. One of the many examples that highlight the solidity of the project is the notable growth we had in our corporate mass during the pandemic (+17,000), while the football industry suffered a sharp drop in its income.
