Thomas Müller’s contract with Bayern expires at the end of the season. Honorary President Hoeneß now reveals that an extension is imminent.
According to honorary president Uli Hoeneß, FC Bayern Munich is about to extend the contract with Thomas Müller.
“It’s only a matter of days or hours until it is announced,” said the long-time manager of the German soccer record champions on Monday evening on ServusTV. In the program “Sport and Talk from Hangar-7,” the 71-year-old added: “I think it is in the interest of the entire club that Thomas stays with us.” Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund, who was also on the show, said: “He hasn’t extended yet, but it could still happen.”
Müller’s current contract with Munich expires at the end of the season. According to media reports, the club and players have already agreed on an extension. This can be officially announced this week – as a kind of Christmas present to the fans.
The national player has been with Bayern since he was a child and is one of the club’s greatest identification figures. This season he was used less often under coach Thomas Tuchel – but he was in the starting line-up again in the 3-0 win against VfB Stuttgart.
