The Russian national tennis team won the Davis Cup for the third time in history

The Russian national tennis team won the Davis Cup for the third time in history. The competition ended on Sunday 5 December in Madrid.

In the first meeting of the final, Russian Andrei Rublev beat the representative of Croatia Bornu Goyo with a score of 6: 4, 7: 6 (7: 5). The game lasted 1 hour and 33 minutes. Rublev made eight aces with two double mistakes and one realized break point. The Croat has 15 aces and two doubles, writes Sport-Express.

In the second meeting of the final against Croat Marina Chilicha, Daniil Medvedev came out and won with a score of 7: 6 (9: 7), 6: 2. The meeting lasted 1 hour and 28 minutes.

Thus, the final score was 2: 0.

The Russians reached the Davis Cup final, defeating the German team on December 4 – Rublev beat Dominik Kepfer, and Medvedev defeated Jan-Lennard Struff.

The Russian team includes Daniil Medvedev, Andrei Rublev, Aslan Karatsev, Karen Khachanov, as well as Evgeny Donskoy and Roman Safiullin. Due to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency, the national team competes in the tournament without a national flag and anthem.

The competition lasted from November 25th. The Spanish were the current winners. The Russians won the Davis Cup in 2002 and 2006.
