Tennis player Rublev beat Goyo in the first match of the Davis Cup final

Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev defeated Croatian representative Bornu Goyo in the first match of the Davis Cup final. This was announced on Sunday, December 5, by Sport-Express.

The Russian won with a score of 6: 4, 7: 6 (7: 5). The game lasted 1 hour and 33 minutes. Rublev made eight aces with two double mistakes and one realized break point. The Croat has 15 aces and two doubles.

Thus, Russia is leading in the match with Croatia with a score of 1: 0. In the next game, Russian Daniil Medvedev will meet with Croat Marin Cilic.

Russian tennis players advanced to the Davis Cup final, defeating the German team on December 4. Medvedev defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in two sets with the same score – 6: 4, 6: 4. Before that, Andrei Rublev beat German Dominik Kepfer in the first match of the Davis Cup semifinals.

The Russian team includes Daniil Medvedev, Andrei Rublev, Aslan Karatsev, Karen Khachanov, as well as Evgeny Donskoy and Roman Safiullin. Due to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency, the national team competes in the tournament without a national flag and anthem.

The final Davis Cup competitions are held from November 25 to December 5 in Spain, Italy and Austria. The Russians are two-time trophy winners (2002, 2006). The Spanish team is the current winner of the tournament.
