As the organizers announced on Friday, the clean-up work in Bischofshofen has been completed after an avalanche occurred a week ago. This means that the Epiphany jumping can also take place on January 6th, 2024.

“Thanks to the great support from all sides, the damage on the slope and on the barrier has been repaired. The jump and run-off are already covered with snow again. After Christmas, we will start with the fine preparation on December 27th,” says Manfred Schützenhofer, President of the Bischofshofen ski club and head of the organizing committee.

Last week, on Saturday night, a snow retaining net on the Paul-Außerleitner ski jump tore, causing tons of heavy snow to crash down like an avalanche, destroying some of the boards on the side. Schützenhofer and his team received help not only from volunteers and service providers from the region, but also from other World Cup organizers. “VSC Klingenthal loaned SC Bischofshofen three snow nets to repair the slope.”

Up to 120 men were on duty from morning to night. “It was really a Herculean task,” says Schützenhofer, who is even more pleased that the repairs could be completed before the Christmas holidays. The costs are in the low six-figure range.

In addition to Bischofshofen, the other tour locations Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck also gave the green light to hold their competitions, which start with the qualification on December 28th in Oberstdorf.
