Snowboard: Auner and Schöffmann second and third in the Davos slalom

Auner missed his second individual World Cup victory by losing to the Italian Daniele Bagozza, whose compatriot Edwin Coratti came third. Schöffmann defeated the Swiss Julie Zogg in the “small final”, and in the semi-final she was defeated by the eventual German final winner Ramona Hofmeister.

Schöffmann prevailed in the quarterfinals against her closer compatriot Daniela Ulbing, who came second at the Olympics and came fifth overall. The 50-year-old Claudia Riegler from Salzburg, who finished in 15th place, was eliminated in the first knockout round against Hofmeister, whose winning streak continued in the third competition of the season with a final victory against the Italian Lucia Dalmasso. The 26-year-old Auner landed his only individual World Cup victory in January 2022 in Bad Gastein. In any case, this time he jumped into the breach alongside the 22-year-olds Burgstaller (22nd), Christoph Karner (11th) and Pink (13th). Andreas Prommegger (17th), Benjamin Karl (18th) and Alexander Payer (20th) were narrowly eliminated from qualifying.

In the World Cup, after this slalom season opener, Coratti has replaced Karl, who is now in second place, at the top, Prommegger and Auner are sixth and eighth respectively. Ulbing and Schöffmann, who recently came third in the Cortina giant slalom, are third and fourth behind the still flawless Hofmeister and Dalmasso.
