President of the Russian Tennis Federation and captain of the national team Shamil Tarpishchev believes that the victory of the national team in the Davis Cup is incomparable. He shared his emotions on Monday, December 6, during a post-match press conference.
“The victory was in strength, but not in preparation, because there was no victory as such. This victory is incomparable with anything, because the guys had to go through a lot this season, everyone played against the background of fatigue, and I am very grateful that they did their best to the end. In general, for all the time that the senior coach, this is probably the most friendly team, ”REN TV quotes him.
As noted by Sport-Express, Tarpishchev became the fifth captain to win the Davis Cup at least three times.
Earlier, on December 5, in Madrid, the Russian national team won the Davis Cup for the third time in history. Russian tennis players have won the Davis Cup twice (2002, 2006). The Russian team included Daniil Medvedev, Andrei Rublev, Aslan Karatsev, Karen Khachanov, as well as Evgeny Donskoy and Roman Safiullin.
