The English football magazine FourFourTwoin an end-of-year special, made a ranking of the best shirts in the history of football.
“Choosing the best football shirts of all time was never an easy task (although it was a lot of fun). We ended up with a good mix of clubs”warned the English media.
Within this list there are 33 t-shirts in total -no round numbers-, where the presence of two Argentine soccer jerseys.
One of them is the title edition of Boca Juniors during the season 1985/86, which maintains its classic design, without a sponsor. The other is more recognized and affective: the team’s starting shirt. Argentine National Team in it Mexico World Cup 1986.
The ‘xeneize’ jacket appears in the place 31, at the bottom of the list. The English publication made the following review to justify its choice.
“Boca Juniors’ unmistakable blue and yellow jersey hasn’t changed much over the years, but it looked especially splendid in the mid-1980s. The Argentine giant’s last jersey before adopting a sponsor, the thick yellow stripe, “Adidas trefoil logo and collar combine to stunning effect here”they wrote.

On the other hand, the shirt of the Argentine National Team world champion is almost at the top of the ranking, in the place 7.
“There are jerseys that become iconic thanks to a player, such as the Argentina jersey for the 1986 World Cup, manufactured by Le Coq Sportif. The player in question? Diego Maradona, of course, who captained his country to glory in Mexico (although Argentina wore their away jersey in a quarter-final match against England)”they explained.

The champion of this ranking is the shirt Netherlands 1988champion of the Euro Cup of that year by the hand of Van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard.
