Like on Wednesday, the Vorarlberg native was only beaten by Nika Prevc on the normal hill. The Slovenian won with a clear 20.3 points lead over Pinkelnig, who is on the podium for the third time in a row. Lisa Eder missed the podium in fourth place by 7.3 points, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger took sixth place.
Pinkelnig achieved the second-best distance of 94.5 m in the first round in the Alpine Arena and went into the final in second place. There, the overall World Cup winner held her nerve and placed despite difficult conditions with a 91.5 m set. Only World Cup leader Prevc (94.5/95) remained out of reach, as was the case the day before. The 18-year-old achieved the double in the Drau city and celebrated her fourth win of the season. Her compatriot Nika Kriznar came third.
“I asked her what she had for breakfast”
“My jumps were good, but Nika (Prevc, note) was incredible. I asked her what she had for breakfast. She said honey, I might have to try that sometime,” said Pinkelnig in the ORF interview. In any case, the 35-year-old can report positively. In her first four competitions after her delayed start to the season, she came fourth, first, second and second. “I’m now looking forward to a few days’ break and then we’ll step on the gas again in Japan.”
Eder was also happy on Thursday. “I felt very comfortable today, I still have my problems. But I’m completely satisfied with fourth place.” The emotional situation was similar for Seifriedsberger. “I’m happy that I was able to improve. I’m not entirely happy with the jumps, but it’s a cool placement and it’s really cool at home.”
Four Austrians in the top 10
The ÖSV women presented a strong team, a total of four Austrians ended up in the top 10. Behind Pinkelnig, Eder and Seifriedsberger, Sara Marita Kramer, who had come away empty-handed on Wednesday, came back in ninth place. In 14th place, Julia Mühlbacher couldn’t quite match her previous day’s performance, which had brought her fifth place. Chiara Kreuzer (81 m) in 31st place and Katharina Ellmauer (78) in 35th place did not make it into the second round.
The entourage of jumpers is now changing continents and traveling to Japan, where they will be jumping for World Cup points next week in Sapporo and a week later in Zao.
