Confirmed: Matías Suárez stopped being a River player

The 35-year-old player put an end to their relationship after five seasons, in which he won seven titles.

The River leadership announced this Friday that it had reached an agreement with forward Matías Suárez, who will not continue in the institution for next season.

“River Plate and Matías Suárez agreed that the player will not renew his contract with the club, thus ending his successful five-year period wearing the Sacred Mantle,” Núñez’s entity indicated on its networks.

The 35-year-old player, with a past in Belgrano de Córdoba and European football, put an end to their relationship after five seasons, in which he won seven titles.

In 2023, the Córdoba attacker only played 15 games with the River shirt, with a total of 221 minutes, and his last appearance as a starter was in September 2022.

The forward’s future is not confirmed, but San Lorenzo and Estudiantes have already shown interest in having his services, while Belgrano could have priority.

With the farewell of Suárez, coach Martín Demichelis adds one more loss along with several references who left the club between sales, terminations and contract terminations: Nicolás De la Cruz, Enzo Pérez, Jonatan Maidana, Salomón Rondón, Emanuel Mammana and Bruno Zuculini .
