Dutch national team captain Virgil van Dijk has vigorously denied reports of an alleged player revolt against Bondscoach candidate Louis van Gaal.
“This story is completely wrong,” wrote the defense chief of Liverpool FC on Twitter and attacked the reporter responsible for the English Mirror: “Shame on you!”
The paper had described van Dijk as the “leader” of the alleged revolt. Its deputy Georginio Wijnaldum and other stars would rather see Henk ten Cate (formerly KFC Uerdingen) as Frank de Boer’s successor, it said.
