At minus three degrees, second division football team SV Guntamatic Ried started their preparations for the spring season yesterday afternoon on the artificial turf pitch in the Klaus Roitinger Stadium.
An “old acquaintance” was there in Ante Bajic, but there were ten absentees: In addition to the long-term injured players Marcel Ziegl, Matthias Gragger and Philipp Pomer, Nikki Havenaar (struck), Nils Seufert and Oliver Steurer (both sick) and Jonas Mayer were also missing , Nico Wiesinger and Ben-Travis Wörndl (all Army).

Also not there: Nikola Stosic, who is currently training with the Young Vikings and probably no longer plays a role in the team’s plans. It will also be difficult for Marc-Andre Schmerböck to get playing time in the spring after Bajic’s signing. It’s quite possible that the duo will be released in the winter.
Something is also expected to happen on the access side: In addition to Bajic, a left-back is also expected to come in during the winter transfer period. “We want to have this personnel clarified by the training camp,” says Ried sports director Wolfgang Fiala.
