Santos Borré gave an unexpected blow to River and is going to play in Brazil

The Colombian striker Rafael Santos Borré accepted the offer of Inter of Porto Alegre and put an end to the hopes of River upon his possible return to the club.

The current Werder Bremen player in Germany chose to join the Brazilian team along with another former teammate, Lucas Alarioalso a former player for the Núñez club.

The news was confirmed by Leonardo Ponzio, former River midfielder and member of the club’s Technical Secretariat, who expressed in an interview that “Borré decided on Inter’s offer.”

The operation included the purchase of the Colombian attacker’s transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany and a contract for three seasons, with figures that turned out to be unattainable for Núñez’s team.

“There was no problem in buying the transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt, but he had an offer from Inter and decided, based on what he told us, to opt for that”Ponzio revealed.

The 28-year-old “coffee” scorer had a successful time at River under the technical direction of Marcelo Gallardo.

However, after playing last season on loan at Werder Bremen, Santos Borré was looking for a new challenge and aimed at South American football.

River, for its part, is now in the urgent search for a striker to reinforce their attack.

The disappointment is not only for losing Santos Borré, but also for the recent incorporation that Inter made with Alario, who was champion with the “millionaire” team in the 2015 Copa Libertadores.

With this panorama, the attacker Jose Lopezformer Lanús player, is emerging as the last alternative for River in his attempt to replace Venezuelan Salomón Rondón.

However, the operation with Palmeiras of Brazil to acquire López will not be easy.

“José López is in a team that competes at the same level as us. I don’t know if it is more expensive or cheaper, but it is a negotiation that, if necessary, will take time because it is not easy to get a player from a Brazilian team”Ponzio explained about López’s pass.

Regarding other possible additions, Ponzio clarified that River did not hold negotiations for defender Leonardo Godoy, Uruguayan full-back Agustín Sant`Anna and midfielder Fernando Redondo.

Núñez’s entity underwent a series of changes to its squad, with the incorporation of young Uruguayan midfielder Nicolás Fonseca as the only reinforcement so far.

Among the notable casualties are Enzo Pérez, Jonatan Maidana, Emanuel Mammana, Salomón Rondón, Bruno Zuculini, Matías Suárez, among others.

The team led by Martin Demichelis now faces the challenge of rebuilding its squad in the face of the demands of a season that promises to be intense.
