Tuchel praised Beckenbauer’s “incredible life’s work” as a player and coach – but also his person: “He touched people’s hearts and reached them emotionally.” Before kick-off there will be, among other things, a minute’s silence in the sold-out arena. The exterior of the stadium will be illuminated with a large “Thank you Franz.”
Bayern want to give their honorary president a victory – and put league leaders Leverkusen under pressure. Tuchel: “We want to have the best possible start to the year with a win. Especially on a day when we remember Franz Beckenbauer.”
