The 24-year-old was defeated in two runs by Emma Finucane from Great Britain, who had already won the World Cup final against Friedrich last August. Emma Hinze took third place after a 2-0 win against Mathilde Gros from France.
In the 4000 meter individual pursuit, Tobias Buck-Gramcko, who came third last year, took fourth place in 4:10.802 minutes. Daniel Bigham became European champion (4:05.783/Great Britain).
