The shortage in the central defender position continues at FC Bayern. Two professionals have to take a break, one is leaving.
Central defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano have taken a break from training at FC Bayern Munich. According to Sky and Bild, both professionals were missing from the session in Faro.
As the Munich team announced, de Ligt suffered a capsule injury to his left knee. This was revealed by an MRI scan. According to the club, new signing Eric Dier left the training camp in Portugal because the birth of his first child is imminent.
The German football record champions have repeatedly had personnel concerns in the central defender position this season. This is also why Dier was signed by Tottenham Hotspur in the winter. The South Korean Minjae Kim is currently missing because he is in action at the Asian Cup.
