Farewell to Franz Beckenbauer: Today (3 p.m.) in Munich’s Allianz Arena, long-time companions, political and sports figures and many fans are remembering the late Beckenbauer.
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder will, as political representatives, honor Beckenbauer’s achievements. President Herbert Hainer and honorary president Uli Hoeneß speak from the club’s side.
Beckenbauer died on January 7th at the age of 78. The “Kaiser” was one of the most influential personalities in football worldwide.
