The seven possible opponents Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Juventus Turin and Ajax Amsterdam combine more than half of all titles awarded so far in the Champions League or its previous championship championship.
With the exception of ManCity, which has not yet won the important European club competition, all other possible opponents are at least two-time champions. The pairings for the round of 16 will be drawn at noon on Monday (12 noon) at UEFA headquarters in Nyon. As runners-up in the group, Salzburg will play the first leg at home. Game dates are the 15./16. or 22./23. February. In the second leg, the respective group winners then have home rights, so Salzburg must play away. The decision about the ascent will be made on the 8th / 9th. or 15./16. March.
