As a tennis professional, he won the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament in 1991 – and won Olympic gold in doubles with Boris Becker in 1992. Today Michael Stich is a painter.
Interview: Tobias Ott
Do you hold a brush in your hand more than a tennis racket these days?
Tennis is the past, painting is my future and new calling. I can organize my time freely, but I need a certain emotional mood. I was very productive in 2023: I painted 45 pictures for my third exhibition, a pop-up exhibition in Hamburg last December. And until the end of January I will be showing my works with other artists in the exhibition “Beyond Fame” in the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf.
