Joshua Kimmich: Bayern star fails with lung problems for the rest of the first half of the season

FC Bayern has announced that Joshua Kimmich will not play again until the end of the year. The national player thus missed the three remaining games of the year against FSV Mainz 05, VfB Stuttgart and VfL Wolfsburg. Bayern have been missing Kimmich for four weeks. First, the unvaccinated person had to go into isolation as the contact person for infected teammate Niklas Süle, followed by a second quarantine because Kimmich had contact with an infected person from his private environment. The midfielder belongs to a small group of Bayern professionals who have so far refused to be vaccinated. This probably includes Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who will also be absent from the club due to a recently overcome infection with symptoms. After Kimmich’s public statements on the subject, a heated debate broke out about vaccinators in professional football and about Kimmich himself. The club increased the pressure on players to get vaccinated and even cut salaries for the quarantine period. It is not known whether Kimmich will be vaccinated in the near future.
