Red for Union coach: Sané after Bjelica’s assault: “Forgotten again”

It was the excitement of the catch-up game between FC Bayern and Union Berlin: visiting coach Nenad Bjelica sees red after an attack on Leroy Sané. Now the national player speaks out.

Leroy Sané from FC Bayern Munich made a conciliatory statement after Union Berlin coach Nenad Bjelica’s attack on him.

“I don’t hold grudges when it comes to something like that and I’ve already forgotten the scene,” the national player told “Bild”: “As far as I know, he was a bit emotional after the scene in our penalty area. Whatever – the main thing is that We got the three important points.”

Bjelica was shown a red card in the Bundesliga catch-up game because he caught Sané with his hand in the face during an argument on the sidelines. “I actually just wanted to get the ball back quickly to start the next attack, and then it got a bit wild and he grabbed my face,” said the 28-year-old Bayern professional about the much-discussed scene in the middle of the second half.

Immediately after the game, which Bayern won 1-0, Bjelica commented on his sending off. “He pushed me, then I reacted the way I shouldn’t react with my hand on his face,” the Croatian said: “I was a little upset.” But his behavior was “not okay. What I did cannot be tolerated. I understand the red card.” Sané got away with a yellow card.

The Union coach initially did not want to apologize to Sané. He had to apologize to his own team. “Not with Sané. He comes into the room to provoke me.” But that doesn’t excuse the fact that he didn’t react appropriately, said the 52-year-old Croatian. Bjelica is facing a suspension.
