Bundesliga: Leipzig’s series of defeats is becoming a headache for Rose

RB Leipzig loses 5-2 at VfB Stuttgart and is still without a point after the Bundesliga winter break. RB coach Marco Rose sees the mental challenge.

According to coach Marco Rose, RB Leipzig’s crisis in results is making itself felt mentally. “It’s clear to us somewhere that the last three results are in our heads. That was evident in our game today,” said the RB coach after the 2:5 (1:2) at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday: “We wanted that “We prevent it. We didn’t manage that. We didn’t manage to achieve a simple turnaround. VfB managed it today.”

Stuttgart also had no points before the game against RB in the new year. Leipzig lost for the third time after the winter break and has now been without a win in the Bundesliga for four games. RB is four points behind surprise third-place Stuttgart in the race for the Champions League places and could be pushed out of the top four by Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.

“Crisis, false start – choose a word,” said Benjamin Henrichs on Sky. “In any case, it is not enough for our needs.”

Duel against 1. FC Union Berlin

Leipzig scored two goals in Stuttgart, but was otherwise disappointing. Overall, Rose complained that his team was defending too poorly at the moment. His team didn’t attack well against VfB either. “We already have a backpack right now, especially with the goals we have,” Rose said.

Next Sunday RB will play against 1. FC Union Berlin. “We didn’t have the conviction, the trust in many things that are normally normal for us. We have to work through that, of course,” explained Rose. “Then we have to come up with a good plan, perhaps a simple plan, also to free up the other parts of the boys’ brains for the game so that they don’t think so much.”
