At the end of the Dolomites Triple in Italy on Sunday, the Swiss won in 1:20.75 minutes ahead of Stephanie Venier, who was still in top form, (+0.21 seconds) and Romane Miradoli from France (+0.41). . Hütter was eliminated for the first time this season at the end of a botched trip.

Venier in second place

Venier wrote the positive headlines for the ÖSV this weekend. After her downhill victory on Friday, the 30-year-old Tyrolean took fifth place in the second downhill and now second place in the Super-G. “I currently have an extreme basic speed and feel comfortable when cornering. This is reflected in the results,” explained Venier on ORF.

At first she wasn’t really happy about it. “Feeling slowed down,” went through her head. Shortly afterwards, Venier saw her journey differently. “Maybe it wasn’t so stupid where I put the bow. I’m really happy now.”

Precise driving from the Swiss

Gut-Behrami once again showed off her technique on the slope where she became world champion in 2021. In the lower part no one could keep up with the Swiss woman’s precise driving. Gut-Behrami celebrated her 21st Super-G victory, the 41st in the World Cup overall. She is still one short of the Swede Anja Pärson, fifth in the women’s rankings Renate Götschl is at 46.

After finishing second, fourth, first and second, Hütter experienced his first major setback. She missed a goal at the last split. “It’s annoying, something like that shouldn’t happen. It really bothers me,” said the Styrian after the setback in the ball race. After 5 of 11 Super-G, Gut-Behrami is ten points ahead of second-placed Hütter with 320 points.

Her risk-taking approach, after the previous ride didn’t feel fast, went wrong. “I drove in too tight, didn’t have enough pressure on the edge and it didn’t move from the line,” analyzed Hütter, shaking his head.

The third Cortina race was also not without crashes and long interruptions. The young Vorarlberger Lena Wechner, Stephanie Jenal (SUI), Roberta Melesi (ITA) and Valerie Grenier (CAN) on the way to a podium place all landed hard in the safety net, a few more were eliminated. Wechner was able to drive to the finish himself after a short break from treatment. Like Hütter, Ariane Rädler missed a goal.

Mirjam Puchner was the second best Austrian in seventh place (+1.10). She started off as fast as an arrow, but then missed a moment of momentum. Continuing line problems cost the Salzburg woman a lot of time and a top place. “Unfortunately, I did what I always do at the moment: I moved inward too early,” said Puchner after a “difficult, instructive weekend.” She felt a bit searching for stability.

The Italian faction around Sofia Goggia (5th), Marta Bassino (6th) and especially Federica Brignone (9th) were among the beaten on home snow. After Zauchensee, Brignone could not use Cortina to put pressure on Mikaela Shiffrin in speed races. It’s completely different for Gut-Behrami, who is now 195 points behind the American, who fell on Friday and is missing for an uncertain period of time, in the overall World Cup.

The next speed weekend is planned for next weekend in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. However, the races in Bavaria are shaky, temperatures in the double-digit plus range are forecast.
