When the Norwegian Silje Opseth won, Sara Maria Kramer in seventh place confirmed the upward trend she had indicated on Saturday. The Salzburg woman, who has so far fallen short of her own expectations, was the best ÖSV jumper immediately ahead of the previous day’s winner Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (8th). Defending World Cup champion Eva Pinkelnig opted out.
“She has respect for the hill and will recharge her energy reserves for the next competitions,” said the ÖSV before the second competition on the largest large hill in the world (hill size 147). Pinkelnig only came 13th on the Mühlenkopfschanze on Saturday.
Kramer left Germany with a smile in fifth and seventh place, but especially because of her last jump of 137 m. “There’s not much left to do,” said the 15-time World Cup winner. Lisa Eder ended up in the top 15 in 13th place, only 33 jumpers started.
Seifriedsberger, who clinched a second World Cup victory on Saturday after an eleven-year break, attacked on Sunday as 9th at halftime. with a 146.5 m set. When she landed, however, she reached into the snow. The result was a severe loss of points. “I was really a bit fed up. I had quite a bit of air and didn’t know how to deal with it,” said Seifriedsberger. The maximum distance of the day was achieved with the last jump. Opseth sailed to 150 meters.
