Tinkoff Russian Premier League (RPL) will take over the investigation of the incident related to the death of a fan during the Krylia Sovetov vs Rubin match. This is stated in a statement released on Saturday, December 11.
The meeting within the 18th round of the championship took place earlier that day. 10 minutes before the final whistle, one of the fans became ill, later he died.
“The Russian Premier League expresses its condolences to the family and friends of the fan. The RPL leadership will take control of the investigation of the incident together with the football club Krylya Sovetov, – stated in the statement.
According to the RPL, the 50-year-old spectator felt unwell at the end of the match. Doctors came to the rescue of the man, who performed resuscitation for half an hour, but the fan could not be saved. According to the preliminary version, the fan had a sudden cardiac arrest.
The press attaché of the Samara team, Maxim Sestnov, in turn, clarified that the fan had heart failure. In the near future, Krylya Sovetov will contact the fan’s family.
