The more than five thousand medals that will be awarded at Paris 2024 were presented publicly. They are said to have been forged with a material from the Eiffel Tower.
The athletes who get on the podium in the Paris Olympic Games will be rewarded with a “piece” of the Eiffel Towerorganizers announced Thursday, unveiling the event’s medals, which feature hexagon-shaped tokens forged from scrap metal from the iconic monument.

The 5,084 medals have been produced by the Paris Mint. The idea was to link the Games with symbols of Francesaid Thierry Reboulcreative director of Paris 2024.

“The absolute symbol of Paris and France is the Eiffel Tower (…) It is the opportunity for athletes to take a piece of Paris with them”reported those responsible for the organization.
Designed by the jeweler Chaumetthe 18-gram hexagonal tokens are made of iron from previous renovations of the Tower, stored for years in a warehouse whose location is secret.
They are located in the center of the gold, silver and bronze medals, surrounded by grooves that evoke the rays of light that explode outwards, extracted from a tiara design from the archives of Chaumet.

On the reverse of the medals appears the Greek goddess of victory, Nike, advancing with the Acropolis on one side and the Eiffel Tower the other.
The Paralympic medals show a view of the Eiffel Tower from below and are printed Paris 2024 in braille.
