Figure skater Alena Kostornaya will not take part in the Russian championship due to injury. This was announced on Monday, December 13, by the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR).
Details of the injury of the 18-year-old athlete have not been specified.
This season, Kostornaya returned back to the team to Eteri Tutberidze, after she tried to train at the Evgeni Plushenko academy.
At two stages of the Grand Prix in the fall of 2021, Kostornaya was unable to win, but in terms of the amount of credits she managed to get to the Grand Prix finals. The highest achievement of the athlete is the victory at the European Championship – 2020 in Graz and in the final of the Grand Prix-2019, which was held in Turin.
The Russian Championship will be held in St. Petersburg from 23 to 26 December 2021. It is at this tournament that Russian athletes will compete for tickets to the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.
Earlier, on September 23, due to health problems, another Russian figure skater, Alexandra Trusova, withdrew from the free program at the stage of the Russian Figure Skating Cup in Syzran.
