The third defeat in a row should not have any consequences for Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel for the time being. Leon Goretzka feels like he is in a horror film.
Immediately after FC Bayern Munich’s third competitive defeat, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen made a commitment to coach Thomas Tuchel, who was under great pressure.
The question of a change of coach does not arise, said Dreesen after the 2:3 (1:2) in the Bundesliga at VfL Bochum. When asked whether Tuchel would also be on the bench in the next game against RB Leipzig, he replied “of course”.
Tuchel had previously described the renewed setback in Bochum as extremely unfortunate. “I don’t think the defeat today was fair. I think a lot went against us,” said Tuchel afterwards on DAZN: “Whatever could go wrong, went wrong.”
Tuchel: Defending his title is currently “not realistic”
National player Leon Goretzka illustrated: “It feels like a horror film that doesn’t stop.” But it’s not just bad luck that Bayern are currently having. “At the end of the day, it’s individual mistakes that we make – and too many of them,” criticized Goretzka: “At the moment, I think we have to question everything.”
The Munich team, plagued by injuries and playing outnumbered for around 20 minutes in Bochum after Dayot Upamecano’s yellow-red card, are already eight points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen twelve games before the end of the season. At the moment, defending the title is “not realistic,” Tuchel admitted: “But last season we believed in it until the end and were rewarded.”
