Before the premiere league game against Everton in the evening, Crystal Palace Football Club announced the resignation of coach Roy Hodgson. The 76-year-old was recently hospitalized with health problems.
“I understand that, given the recent circumstances, it is advisable at this time for the club to bring forward the managerial change planned for the summer,” Hodgson said in a written statement explaining his resignation. For Monday’s game, assistants Paddy McCarthy and Ray Lewington will take on the coaching role on the bench. According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Oliver Glasner will definitely take over the role of head coach at Crystal Palace on Tuesday. The 49-year-old from Innviertel was supposed to watch the game against Everton as a spectator.
As reported, Glasner will be supported by Michael Angerschmid and Ronald Brunmayr as assistants at the relegation-threatened club in London, as he was recently at Eintracht Frankfurt. Emanuel Pogatetz, who has experience in the Premiere League, joins the coaching team.
Official confirmation of the move by the club itself is still pending. Apparently they want to wait for the evening game against Everton after Hodgson’s resignation has been announced
